How to write a Glasgow event listing

Write a useful Glasgow event listing with the right date, venue, price and booking details. A practical checklist for independent organisers.

A useful event listing answers a guest’s practical questions before asking them to book. Say what happens, who it suits, where it takes place, when to arrive and what the ticket includes. Specific details are more helpful than a string of promotional claims.

01 Explain

Explain this particular Glasgow event

A Glasgow live-music listing needs a clear distinction between doors and the advertised performance start. In a fictional example, explain the format, whether seating is available and the venue’s confirmed age restriction. Only publish named performers, set details or support acts when they are agreed; uncertainty should not be hidden behind promotional adjectives.

Use the correct Glasgow area, whether Merchant City, Finnieston or Southside, and give the complete venue address. A room above or behind another business needs a confirmed entrance description. If a line-up, date or venue changes, update the listing and booking page together and use the organiser’s normal communication process for existing guests.

02 Use

Use a clear description structure

Start with one sentence naming the activity and intended audience. Follow with the format, confirmed programme and what is included. Then give the venue, full address, date, doors and start time where they differ, age restriction and booking destination. State any useful access information that the venue has actually confirmed, plus a route for questions you cannot answer in the listing.

An outline for an independent live-music session could be: what participants or guests do; what experience they need; what the price includes; the exact session; and how to book. This is an editorial example, not a real event announcement. Replace every detail with your own confirmed information rather than copying it as a claim.

03 Separate

Separate guest prices from listing fees

The published Direct listing price is £10 for the organiser. The optional Featured listing is £39. This is separate from what a guest pays to attend: a free-entry event still has an organiser listing fee. Featured placement is not a promise of views, bookings or a Google position.

If guest admission is free, say whether booking is still needed and how capacity is managed. A free-entry description does not mean that the organiser can submit a promotional listing without paying the published listing fee.

04 Check

Check the listing before sending it

  • Does the title name the event rather than rely on a vague slogan?
  • Do the date, venue and advertised start agree with the booking page?
  • Does the link open the right session on a phone?
  • Are included items, age limits and access details confirmed?
  • Do you have permission to use the artwork and named credits?
  • Is there a clear organiser contact route for guest questions?

Keep your master description after submitting. If a programme, venue or date changes, use the platform’s support or correction process and update the booking page too. Do not create a second conflicting listing as a shortcut.

Current availability: Payment checkout for new organiser listings is not open on this city platform at the time of writing. You can prepare your listing using this guide, but check the submission page for availability before attempting payment.
