The Merchant City location makes it accessible from all the Glasgow campuses. Worth going on a night when you are not specifically out for a long one – the Tuesday format suits a weeknight pace.

SWG3 in Finnieston is Glasgow’s most significant contemporary arts and music complex and runs club nights across its multiple spaces including the Warehouse and the TV Studio. Student nights run through the year and the programming covers electronic music, indie, and cross-genre events. Entry for student nights is typically £6-12 depending on the night. One of the most interesting venues in the city and worth making a priority early in your time in Glasgow.

The converted church at the top of Byres Road is primarily a live music venue and theatre space but also runs club nights in its basement. The architecture alone – a Victorian church with a decorated ceiling by Alasdair Gray – makes it worth visiting once. Club nights here tend to cover indie and alternative rather than electronic. On Byres Road and walkable from most West End student accommodation.
